About Us
Eco Tutor provides a variety of educational products which nurture environmental awareness and understanding and can be put to use in the home, school and the community. We promote environmental education and awareness for children and youths through educational books, toys, games, solar kits and models, science toys, equipment and kits, outdoor gear, plush toys, teacher resources, classroom supplies and much more.
Eco Tutor was founded by a small group of committed educators and parents, located in southern Ontario, who are concerned with our growing disconnection with the natural world. The goal of Eco Tutor is to offer products which promote environmental literacy, make environmental education relevant to everyone, young and old, and which foster the appreciation, knowledge, values and skills necessary to inspire ecologically sound decisions and actions.
We need to reconnect with our natural world, see ourselves as part of it and understand how our actions affect it. Of course the most effective way of achieving these goals is to get outside and experience nature. Eco Tutor offers products which reinforce and extend the outdoor experience using a variety of teaching strategies and recognizing diverse learning styles. Most importantly, we offer products which extend the outdoor experience by promoting environmentally sound practices and encouraging a sense of environmental citizenship and stewardship among citizens of all ages. Eco Tutor offers educators, parents and community leaders practical tools, strategies and resources to help us understand that we can be forces of constructive change, and that our ecological involvement is needed in the community.
Cognizant of and inspired by the guidelines recently put forth by the Ontario Ministry of Education regarding integrating environmental education into the curriculum, we are endeavoring to supply quality information and resources to promote environmental education in the school, the home and on the trail.
